I had a very exciting moment this morning when I realised I could see my own breath – it was that cold! No doubt by the afternoon it will be scorching hot again but for the moment let me revel in the fact that I can feel all cosy in my fleece. It had rained hard all night and there was intermittent drizzle as I ate my breakfast looking out onto the damp garden. There had also been a been a power cut for the last few hours and so the normal blaring church megaphone had been replaced by birdsong. It was so lovely and peaceful. Although I knew around me many people were also up and about getting ready for work it seemed they did this in hushed tones, not wanting to disturb the peace. It reminded me of early morning camping before everyone is fully awake. Especially those camping mornings when the drizzle outside seems to keep people in their tents just a little longer than usual and makes people just a little bit more subdued. Happy memories.
